Classic MS Windows Pranks

Someone e-mail me these pranks, quite classic~ XD how nostalgic~ I remember Eru has made better networked pranks apps~ those popping CD-ROM and wild screen~ whew~ suddenly I got nostalgic about my college.

1. The Restart Remap

We start with one sure to throw off even the most advanced Windows user. Setup is simple and you need only a few seconds alone on someone’s computer. When you get a chance, sneak over and right-click your pal’s icon to Internet Explorer or some other commonly used program. Edit the properties and change the target to: “%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -r -t 00″ Now, every time your buddy tries to run IE, his machine will mysteriously restart — and your laughter will instantly result.

2. Startup Folder Fun

While we’re on the topic of system startups, the Windows Startup folder is a fantastic place for fun. Create a text file with an amusing message and throw it in there so your cubicle mate will get a daily greeting — or, if you really want to get evil, add in the restart shortcut from above (not recommended unless you just want to get your ass kicked).

3. Disappearing Desktop

A classic computer prank never goes out of style. The desktop image trick has been around for a bit, but rest assured: There are plenty of unsuspecting victims still to be found. Just head over to an unattended computer, minimize all the windows, and hit the Print Screen key. Paste the captured image into any graphic editing program — even Microsoft Paint will do — then save the file and set it as the desktop background. Then, all you have to do is hide the actual icons on the desktop — put them in a folder somewhere — and your victim will try endlessly to click the nonexistent icons, which are actually just part of the background image. For another variation, leave one program open when you capture the screen and watch as the person tries to click on it, type in it, and close it to no avail.

Code Geass R2 - episode 10-11

Finally back in action~ since I already skipped almost three weeks review I’ll make a quick glance on ep 10-11 and a separate one for 12.

Finally, it’s war time. More surprises, more new weapons are revealed.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: First Look Review

Though I’m having time problem to review anime (mind you that I HAVE to rewatch and capturing the scene) somehow I still manage to get my hand on this

At Last the sequel of my favourite strategy game, the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2. There’s a quite an improvement, but I think the DS dual screen is very helping, especially for monitoring the “Oh! so many stats!” of a strategy game.

Speak Gently

Speak Gently
Author Unknown
Jun 23 2008

Speak gently. It is better by far
to rule by love than fear.
Speak gently. Let no harsh word mar
the good you may do here.

Speak gently to the young, for they
will have enough to bear;
pass through this life as best they may,
’tis full of anxious care.

Speak gently to the aged one
Grieve not the care-worn heart,
whose sand of life are nearly run,
let such in peace depart.

Speak gently, kindly to the poor,
let no harsh tone be heard.
They have enough they must endure
without an unkind word.

Speak gently…’tis a little thing
dropped in the heart’s deep well;
The good, the joy that it may bring
eternity shall tell.

The bad news is it’s only 2 episode confirmed for now…

The Summer ‘08 Anime Season

Tengen Topa Gurren Lagann the Movie 2008

Summer has come~ yeah and also the new anime season is incoming. Nothing really impressive came out yet, except for the Tengen Topa Gurren Lagann the Movie W00T~! There are also Zero no Tsukaima 3rd Season though, I hope it isn’t as asad as the last season. Ah, there’s also the Negima OVA on the Ala Alba Arc, probably about the beginning of their adventure, and I do hope this one will be a lot better since it’s rumored under Akamatsu-sensei provision himself. Some other series that might interesting is Koihime Musou~ an anime about three kingdom but all the rulers are hot girls “rawr~!”, of course this series is adapted from the Bishoujo Game.

The list is in “more”, I’ll update if there’s any changes~

Code Geass R2 - episode 09: The Bride of the Forbidden City

Finally the Black Knight goes out from Japan and try to fight the Empire in a global scale. After escaping they finally got settled in the Chinese Federation. But, it’s not long before trouble is brewing…

And after waiting for two weeks and expecting a 2 episode back-to-back and turns out to be a single episode, this episode is lack action and impact but probably building foundation for the next story~ And I’m not a lolicon but the Empress is so cute~ So I’ll make the writing brief this time.

Utawarerumono, the Game

Utawarerumono

The Game Cover, click for larger image

Finally I get my hand on one of the ever popular Visual Novel-Strategy Game, the Utawarerumono by Leaf/AQUAPLUS. And thanks to guys from Mirror Moon and Soylations who translate this game so we can play it in english, they even translate the menu and all~ a complete patch.

Utawarerumono is a story centering around the masked protagonist, Hakuoro, who one day is found by a family of two girls and their grandmother in a nearby forest close to their village. He is badly injured and is soon found to have amnesia, so they take him to their home and treat him until he is well again. Hakuoro is soon accepted into their village where he stays and lives with them, but before long Hakuoro finds that life in this village is being oppressed by the greedy emperor who rules over the country their village resides in.

The story’s genre is at first a fantasy-style story with heavy Ainu influence, though later develops science fiction themes towards the end. Indeed, it first appears to take place in a fantasy world, fully with magical beings and interesting new species of humans, but it is later revealed that it takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth’s far future.
